Join us on World Schizophrenia Day for our Strides of Hope Walk on Wednesday, May 24, 2023 from 12:30 - 1:30 pm! Our goal is to raise awareness, reduce stigma, and show our support for all Albertans who are affected by schizophrenia and other severe mental illnesses. SSA hosts our Strides of Hope walk in six cities across the province where our branches are located:

• Calgary

• Camrose

• Edmonton

• Lethbridge

• Medicine Hat

• Red Deer

If you don’t live in one of these cities or are unable to join us in-person, you can still participate and show your support! Simply wear purple, snap a picture, and share it on your social media using the hashtags #WorldSchizophreniaDay and #SSAStridesofHope. Let others know you support the SSA, and feel free to use one of our sample social media posts to help us raise awareness and reduce stigma.

Our goal is to raise awareness, reduce stigma, and show our support for all those affected by schizophrenia. We will be hosting a walk in six cities across the province where our branches are located (Calgary, Camrose, Edmonton, Lethbridge, Medicine Hat, and Red Deer). If you don’t live in one of these cities, we encourage you to go for a walk on your own or with your family and friends!

The Schizophrenia Society of Alberta invites you to participate in our Strides of Hope walk on Tuesday, May 25, 2021 in recognition of World Schizophrenia Day. Due to COVID-19, our Strides of Hope walk is a virtual event.

Participating is easy! Go for a walk around the block, park or shopping mall at a time that is convenient for you. Wear purple or white, take a photo and share on social media.

This is the kickoff to our Annual Fundraising Campaign which runs until December 31, 2020. This year’s goal is to raise $125,000. All proceeds help support the Schizophrenia Society of Alberta’s programs and services.

2020 is a very special year for SSA. On July 29 we are proud to be celebrating 40 years of our Society’s commitment and dedication to those living with and affected by schizophrenia and psychosis. Over the past 40 years, SSA has grown and evolved on many levels including programming and supports, education and advocacy, all in an effort to further identify and meet the needs of the community we serve and at large, throughout the province.
