2026 'See Me, Not My Illness' Annual Fundraising Campaign

The Schizophrenia Society of Alberta needs your support of our 2026 “See Me, Not My Illness” Annual Fundraising Campaign.

For the approximately 49,000 Albertans living with schizophrenia, stigma and discrimination can create barriers to housing, employment, relationships, and everyday acceptance within our communities. Fear of judgment can also lead to isolation and prevent people from seeking the support they need.

At the SSA, we believe people deserve to be seen for who they are and not defined by their illness. SSA provides safe, welcoming, and non-judgmental spaces where individuals living with schizophrenia and related disorders, can connect with others, build confidence, and find hope for the future. Through our recovery-focused programs including peer support, education, and our housing, we help individuals and families move forward.

Austin’s journey is one example of the impact our programs can make in a persons life. Austin first connected with SSA as a client and has quickly become a valued supportive employee at our Calgary Branch. His story is a powerful reminder of what can be possible with the right supports and understanding.

Austin, the face of our 2026 campaign

Our Annual Campaign fundraising goal is to raise $125,000 by December 31, 2026. Each contribution, no matter the amount, helps provide opportunities for connection, support, recovery, and hope.

Your Support Makes Stories Like Austin’s Possible.

Every person we support has their own goals, strengths, dreams, and story. Austin’s story is just one example of the difference SSA can make in someone’s life.

Please take a moment to read his story and consider making a donation to our campaign.Your support will help SSA continue providing programs and services that make a meaningful difference in the lives of individuals living with schizophrenia and their families.
