2025 'See Me, Not My Illness' Annual Fundraising Campaign

The Schizophrenia Society of Alberta needs your support of our 2025 “See Me, Not My Illness” Annual Fundraising Campaign.

Stigma and discrimination greatly affect housing and employment opportunities, and just everyday acceptance in the community, for approximately 49,000 Albertans living with schizophrenia. As with all illnesses, early intervention generally leads to a better prognosis, and fear of the stigma surrounding mental illness, often leads to increased isolation and harmful delays in seeking diagnosis and treatment.

At SSA, we work every day to change this. We provide safe, non-judgmental spaces where people living with schizophrenia can be themselves, receive the support they need, and find hope for the future as Jessica, one of our clients and now a valued supportive employee, shares:

Our programs make a real difference for individuals and their families. But with rising costs, growing demand, and decreased funding, our ability to maintain these vital supports is at risk.

That’s why our “See Me, Not My Illness” Annual Fundraising Campaign running until December 31 is so important. Our goal is to raise $125,000, and we need your help to get there. Every gift, no matter the size, brings us closer to sustaining our programs and meeting the ever-increasing need. Please consider making a donation today and show Albertans living with schizophrenia that they are seen, valued, and not defined by their illness.
