Lorraine's Story

Lorraine comes from a big family. She was raised with her 4 siblings including her identical twin sister. She had a fairly normal childhood, her big brother is her rock and counts on him to show her the way.

Lorraine was diagnosed in her early 20s with paranoid schizophrenia; ever since then Lorraine has had very few episodes. They would only manifest when she does not take her medications. During one of her episodes, she thought she saw the devil’s shadow and heard him say that it was going to kill her and her brother. She felt powerless and took steps to protect herself.

Lorraine is a very private person who takes all the necessary steps to keep her illness under control and she has said that being here at Iris Court, has played a major role in her recovery.  Lorraine has been a model tenant ever since she moved in. She asks questions when unsure of something and is always polite towards support staff and the other tenants. She also enjoys taking walks around the Bonnie Doon neighborhood.  This made her the ideal candidate to receive our first quilt from the South East Edmonton Seniors Association.
