To support the Provincial Board in being the provincial voice that
interacts with the provincial government regarding mental health
legislation, policy development, allocation of resources, etc. and
with other provincial agencies involved in the care of the
psychiatrically ill, and to provide support to our Chapters in these
areas.
To coordinate within the Provincial Board and the Provincial Board’s
Provincial Advocacy Committee and with the SSA’s Chapters to ensure
that our Membership speaks with one voice in all areas of advocacy.
To assist in the formation of new Chapters, and to coordinate
Chapter activities; to avoid overlapping and duplication of efforts;
and to provide leadership and assistance to our Chapters.
To head-up and coordinate Provincial fund-raising; to move towards
the establishment of high profile, province wide events; and to
encourage and assist in Chapter responsibilities for these events. To
develop volunteers and extra paid staff (as feasible).
To work with the Provincial Treasurer to ensure a proper accounting
of and reconciliation of the fiscal budget at the Annual General
Meeting each year.
To liaise with the Schizophrenia Society of Canada, to report
provincial activities quarterly, to develop joint initiatives with the
national office and other provincial societies where possible that
further the goals of the SSA and all schizophrenia societies in
Canada.
To work with the SSC, the other provincial societies and the SSA’s
chapters to standardize wherever possible the education materials in
use by all SSA Chapters, and to facilitate the establishment of a
resource record identifying all available publications and video and
audio tapes throughout the province in each Chapter centre.
To report regularly all activities to the Chapter offices, including
Minutes of all meetings, quarterly Financial Reports, and annual
audited Financial Statements.
The Partnership Program is a public education program
managed and organized by the Schizophrenia Society of Alberta. Through
grant funding from the Alberta Mental Health Board (AMHB), funding is
flowed through the Provincial Office to the five larger chapters of the
society where the program is delivered.
